In this class we’ll be combining two of my favorite fabric art mediums, Selvages, and Painting on Fabric with Inktense Pencils! We’ll be creating from start to finish a one-of-a-kind quilted wall hanging by creating a backdrop of selvages with interesting words, and color codes. Then layer a transparent painted coneflower over the backdrop using Inktense Pencils. Finishing it off with simple line quilting, corner triangles for hanging, and a binding.

Wall Hanging Class

• Sewing machine, heavy duty machine needles as we will be sewing through many layers (bring extra machine needles), neutral and black thread and several pre-wound bobbins, zig zag foot, and straight stitch foot, free motion quilting foot (I like use a walking foot that can allow both zig zag and straight stitch)
  Note: Know how to install these feet on your machine before class, also bring instruction book for your machine for reference.
• Scissors, straight pins, safety pins
• 2 pencil, Fine tip archive waterproof ink marker, FriXion Pen (You find of these at Staples)
• Painter’s tape
• Rotary cutter, large see through ruler (approx. 6”x 24”), cutting board.
• Small iron and ironing board/pad
• Silicone sheet, or parchment paper, and something to clean your iron just in case you get adhesive on it.
• 1 yard Heat and Bond Lite, Steam A Seam Light, or Misty Fuse (Found at Joann Fabrics)
• 5/8-yard Fabric of your choice for backing
  Cut: 21” x 27”
• Muslin
  Cut: 15”x21”
• Batting
  Cut: 21” x 27”
• Binding fabric Black (I prefer Kona)
  Cut: 2 strips 2.5” X WOF
  Cut: 2 4”Squares (these are for the corner hangers on the back)
• Selvages approximately 25 to 30 (pick ones with cute quotes or words and color codes)
  Cut lengths to be 25” long.
  Width of Selvage can vary you will need at least ¼ above the top of any words or color codes. Note: If not sure these can be trimmed during the class. I will have selvages to share if you don’t have enough.
