Machine Repairs

We provide professional sewing machine repair and maintenance including sergers and embroidery machines. Combined, our technicians have over 75 years of service in the industry. We are a fully Authorized Brother Service Center and our technicians are certified in most brands of sewing machines including Brother, Baby Lock, Janome, Pfaff, Bernina, Viking, Elna & Necchi. Need your vintage machine serviced? You’ve come to the right place! We have lots of experience with machines 50+ years old and have an established clientele of owners who cherish these beautiful machines and continue to use them today.

We recommend servicing your machine every 12 – 18 months depending on use. If you sew or serge 4 or more hours a day, you should consider having it serviced every 6 months. If you are suddenly experiencing an issue with your machine, here is a simple checklist to consider before bringing the machine to us. It might save you a trip!

  • is your tension dial set correctly?
  • is your bobbin the correct size?
  • is your bobbin wound correctly?
  • is your bobbin winder engaged?
  • is your needle straight and sharp?
  • are your feed teeth in the UP position?
  • is your stitch length set between 2-3?

Try replacing your needle, winding a new bobbin, re-threading your machine completely with the foot “up” and test your stitch one more time. If you are still experiencing a problem, bring in your machine right away. We can help!

You can bring in your machine for service anytime during normal store hours: Tues – Fri 10-5 and Sat 10-4. No appointment is needed. Repair labor estimates begin at $79.95 and up. Older machines will be evaluated and one of our technicians will call you personally to discuss what is needed to return your machine to its best condition possible.

Here is a helpful checklist to remind you what to include when you bring your sewing machine in for service:

  • power cord
  • foot control
  • bobbin case & bobbin
  • regular zig zag foot

If you are bringing in an embroidery machine, you also need to include:

  • embroidery unit
  • embroidery foot
  • 4X4 or 5X7 hoop

Turnaround time varies throughout the year with the holidays being particularly busy. Machines requiring parts that have to be ordered will generally add 2-3 weeks to our turnaround time. Going on vacation for a few weeks? That’s always a good time to leave your machine with us. We’ll take good care of it while you’re gone!

We also SHARPEN SCISSORS with approximately a 1 week turnaround. Drop them off anytime during normal business hours: Tues – Fri 10-5 & Sat 10-3.
