Join us for this month’s Westalee Ruler Club class! We’re going to be stitching a beautiful table runner using reverse applique techniques the Westalee Feather Templates.
1/3 Yd Top Fabric
1/3 Yd “focal” fabrics ( this will be the popper fabric)
1/3 Yd Backing fabric
12” X 42” Batting
12” X 42” fusible (Misty Fuse is my preference, but you can use a feather/ Light weight fusible of your choice) NOTE: wash your fabrics, prior to putting the fusible to your fabric.
5 yards 1/8” to 1/4” trim to use for spine.
~ Westalee Ruler foot to fit your sewing machine NOTE: Westalee offers a decorative Ruler foot, that will allow ease of couching your trim for feather spine. This is not required, but is helpful.
~ Feathered Leaf Template Set or Feather Template set (thickness to match the shank size of your machine)
~ Spacing gauge
~ Fabric Marking Pencil
Other Tools Required:
Sewing machine in good working order Extension table Sissors- small with a sharp point. I like the Karen Kay Buckley Fresh sewing machine needle 90/14 Topstitch or Quilting Fabric Marking pen of your choice Hand Sewing needles. I recommend self threading needles Cross Hair ruler Glider recommend not required** Quilting gloves can be useful, not required **
Prior to Class:
~ Apply fusible to the wrong side of the TOP Fabric. If you are using paperback fusible remove the paper.
~ “Sandwich” your fabrics and batting.
~Lay backing with right side down and wrong side up.
~ Lay batting on top
~ Place focal Fabric on top of batting with
***IMPORTANT NOTE: DO NOT IRON QUILT SANDWICH.
