Intro to Hand Quilting
Tuesday, Aug 14 2018 2:00am – 5:00pm
Cost: $40.00 includes supplies
Instructor: Nancy Chandler
Want to learn to hand quilt? I have been hand quilting since 1978. It’s a skill that I love doing and love teaching. Join me for a class that teaches all the tricks that will make you a successful quilter. Learn what works to make those little even stitches. I will supply each student with a kit that includes my favorite quilting needle, batting, thread and fabrics. I will also supply templates. You need to bring a quilting hoop-12-14 inches. A quilt hoop has a rim 3/4 -1”. This helps keep your project in the hoop. I also use a thimble. It really helps moving the stiff little needle. Please bring one. I’ll have some to use (size 9). Mine are sterling silver. I love the way they feel and fit. Please also bring small thread snips or scissors, a pencil and straight edge ruler.
Intro to Hand Applique

Join me to learn how to hand appliqué. Learn how to sew those little stitches that don’t show! You will also learn how to sew curves, make sharp points ( like a leaf), bias stems and reverse appliqué . You will receive a kit that has fabric ,needles tread and a pattern for our project – everything you need to help you make beautiful and crisp appliqué. All you need to bring is a pencil, scissors with small sharp points, and a thimble if you use one. I use a thimble for all my hand sewing. I feel naked without one!
